Dear John,

I am delighted to announce that once again, I am running a Small Business Awards competition to celebrate the best of the Borders in the run up to Christmas.

Last yearโ€™s Small Business Awards contest attracted more than 600 nominations for a host of small businesses across the Scottish Borders.

After the huge volume of entries from voters, I announced six winners who received awards - WK Hair Design & Beauty in Galashiels, Gordon Arms Bar & Cafe in Gordon, KD Fit in Kelso, R&L Taxis in Selkirk, the Ancrum Pantry in Ancrum, and Think Fitness 4 Less in Hawick.

So this year, I am running it again in the hope that the competition will encourage more people to shop locally over Christmas.

During the festive period, itโ€™s vital that we all support local businesses as much as possible. Every pound spent locally helps to support jobs and grow our economy.

Our communities are blessed with so many great local shops, services, cafes, and enterprises of all kinds.

So I would urge you to nominate your favourite small businesses so we can recognise their brilliant service and give them a little more support.

Anyone can nominate a small business by visiting my website HERE. ([link removed])

Nominations close at midnight Wednesday 29 November with winners announced around Small Business Saturday on 2 December.

So please vote for your best-loved trader and encourage more people to shop, eat, drink, relax and do business locally.
