CMPD Welcomes Recruits Amid Officer Shortage

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department welcomes its largest recruiting class ever with 82 recruits. It's been a challenge for many police departments around the country to hire officers. Back in January, CMPD had about 300 open positions.

CMPD pledged to increase the number of women in its ranks with their 30x30 Initiative that aims to include female officers as 30% of the CMPD ranks by 2030. More info about the CMPD hiring process here.
