John -- Explosive new scientific research shows that even low levels of glyphosate could cause leukaemia.

Please join the call to ban glyphosate!

The 'Global Glyphosate Study' (GGS) is the most comprehensive toxicological study ever conducted on glyphosate and glyphosate-based herbicides. The first data from the GGS study about glyphosate's cancer links was presented last Wednesday at an international scientific conference in Italy.

The EU must put a halt to glyphosate. We've got to pressure other governments too, but a win in the EU would be a huge first step.

If we don't make our voices heard, there's a high risk that they'll just give in to the agrochemical lobby instead. Please sign and share today:

Here's my last email with more background on why we're petitioning EU leaders now:

This is urgent: If glyphosate is re-approved by EU governments next month, Bayer will keep pumping out their toxic pesticide all over the world, saying "look, it's Europe-approved"!

Tell EU governments to vote AGAINST glyphosate.

John,

Bayer concealed glyphosate health risks for pregnant women and infants, says a criminal complaint filed in 2019 in Austria that’s just been made public now.

The evidence is damning, but the investigation could take months more, and we don’t have that time. EU governments are due to decide on October 12 if glyphosate is re-approved for 10 years or banned.

Together with Avaaz and WeMove and other partners we’re making a gigantic petition to deliver before the governments vote. We almost got glyphosate banned before – please sign and share this petition to show EU leaders that there’s still massive public support for a ban today:

Tell EU governments to vote to ban glyphosate for good.

Austria’s government just announced that they’ll vote against re-authorising glyphosate, the notorious cancer-linked pesticide invented by Monsanto. That’s great news, but we need an EU ban, and then a global one too.

Wait, didn’t we already win this campaign? Not exactly.

Glyphosate is banned for household use in France, the Netherlands and Belgium, but it’s still used with abandon in agriculture and forestry all over the world. Traces of the toxic chemical are found in food we eat, textiles we touch, and even the dust in our homes.

IARC, the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer, says there’s “strong evidence” that exposure to glyphosate is genotoxic, and that it’s “probably carcinogenic to humans” too. But European regulators still swear by pesticide industry studies that say it’s not so.

Glyphosate-makers say it’s safe, but they concealed one of their own developmental neurotoxicity studies, which showed significant behavioural impairment in young rats when their mothers were exposed to glyphosate during pregnancy. They also failed to include many worrying independent studies in their licence renewal application – even though the law says they have to give a full account of what the latest science says.

We can’t wait for the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Together with our partners we’ll deliver your voice before the crucial EU vote on October 12:

Tell EU governments to vote to ban glyphosate for good, and not let Bayer win again.

Ekō members helped get bee-killing neonicotinoid pesticides banned in the EU, and we’re pushing to also stop all exports of banned chemicals. Working with trade unions, scientists, activists and academics, we’ve helped expose the toxic influence of the agrichemical lobby around the world, and pushed for laws to defend people and nature from their bottomless corporate greed.

Let’s get glyphosate banned in the EU – and not stop until it’s banned all over the world!

Thanks for all that you do,
