THE HOUSE HAS A NEW SPEAKER

Image

I was pleased  to join my House Republican colleagues in electing Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) as our Speaker. He’s a principled conservative and a selfless servant leader. He’s exactly who we need to unite us and move forward.

With a looming government funding deadline, a crisis on our southern border and the Middle East on the brink of an all-out war, it’s crucial the House gets back to work delivering on the promises we made to Americans. I shared my thoughts on Speaker Johnson with FOX news over the weekend, click here to read.

 PROTECTING FLORIDA'S EVERGLADES

Image

Floridians know the Everglades are critical to our environment and economy.  The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) is a model government program making significant headway to restore and preserve the Everglades and South Florida's water resources.  As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I was pleased to secure needed funding in the Energy & Water budget bill the House passed last week.  I’ll keep working across the aisle and with Gov. DeSantis to protect Florida's natural beauty. Click here to learn more.

SENATE REJECTS MY BILL PROTECTING SCHOOL LUNCHES BY PARTY LINE VOTE

Image

Last month, Sen. Marshall and I introduced a measure to prevent the USDA from withholding school lunch funding from schools that do not implement the White House's specific LGBTQ+ policies.  Sadly, the Democrat-led Senate rejected this commonsense bill. I will continue to fight to keep the federal government out of local schools and urge the Biden Administration to stop this overreach.
