Traffic safety is subjective—road design shouldn’t be

A fundamental tenet of Vision Zero is the explicit acknowledgment that the transportation network needs to be designed for the safety of everyone - people driving, people using transit, people walking, and people bicycling or using scooters, etc. However, most (but not all) transportation infrastructure has been built to facilitate automobiles and roadway design that implicitly supports motor vehicle primacy and safety.

Metro report finds fault in Silver Line management

A new report by Metro’s inspector general finds that progress on the Silver Line has been delayed by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA)’s failure to fully investigate problems and provide updates to WMATA.  (Lori Aratani / Post)

The Line Hotel didn’t meet its criteria for abatement

An audit of the Line Hotel finds that it did not meet the criteria to qualify for a $46 million abatement. Palisades Safeway redevelopment comes into focus

Two Orange Line stations close for the weekend

395 Express Lane closures coming to Virginia

In addition to closures on the Orange Line, Virginia commuters will need to plan for weekend closures of the I-395 Express Lanes. While they will only be closed on weekends, the closures are expected to go into May.  (Max Smith / WTOP)
