Well, team, the House of Representatives finally has a speaker.

The question is, will Speaker Johnson and his fellow MAGA House extremists continue to play politics instead of govern?

Just a month ago, the MAGA crowd in the House brought the whole country to the brink of a pointless and costly shutdown that would’ve caused economic pain for families in Rhode Island.

Now we may be coming up on a similar situation. Government funding is set to run out November 17. Our Democratic-controlled Senate has worked diligently in bipartisan fashion to keep the government from closing. It’s unclear if the MAGA House will be willing to work with us at all.

At a time like this, it’s clear how gravely the national economy would be at risk if Republicans also had control of the Senate.

It’s simple. If we want to move our country forward, we need to protect our Democratic Senate majority. The GOP-controlled House doesn’t even pretend to want to govern on the big issues that matter to the American people.

So I’m asking: If you’re able, can you chip in before our end-of-month deadline tonight at midnight to protect my seat next year and expand our Democratic Senate majority?
