After weeks of chaos, Ken Calvert and 219 other House Republicans voted to elect one of the most extreme Speakers in United States history. Here’s how we got to this point:

FIRST: fringe Republicans led by Rep. Matt Gaetz ousted Kevin McCarthy from his speakership position.

THEN: they tried to elect Jim Jordan, but even his MAGA agenda wasn’t extreme enough.

NOW: they’ve opted for one of the MOST extreme Speakers in history and just elected Rep. Mike Johnson.

And when we say extreme, we mean it. Rep. Johnson was one of the architects of the plot to overturn the 2020 election in Congress, wants doctors imprisoned for performing abortion services, and thinks that LGBTQ+ people should be purged from our neighborhoods.

This isn't your grandfather's Republican Party. The MAGA-extremist wing is officially in control.
