Senate Democrats and Republicans appeared to be in broad agreement Tuesday about a need for swift approval of a major package of military aid for both Ukraine and Israel, setting up a potential clash with hard-right House Republicans who have expressed skepticism about continued assistance for Kyiv, as The Washington Post reports.

China’s Economy Shows Signs of Slowing

China’s economy suffered a setback as surveys showed factory orders shrank and construction activity slowed, reigniting growth concerns just as activity appeared to be stabilizing, as the WSJ reports.

Smiles

Without question, my favorite Halloween song is “I Put a Spell on You” by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Screamin’ Jay’s original is amazing, of course. Countless artists have covered the tune, from Nina Simone and Bette Midler to Bryan Ferry and David Gilmour. My favorite cover is the explosive version by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Happy Halloween!
