Last week, our team updated you on the latest Republican chaos: the election of Mike Johnson as speaker of the House. The GOP has continued to brand Johnson as a moderate, reasonable, common-sense family man. This portrayal could not be further from the truth.

When Louisiana passed a no-exceptions abortion ban that would imprison medical professionals for providing life-saving medical care to pregnant people, MAGA Mike tweeted to celebrate. Before running for Congress, Mike Johnson played a central role in the movement to restrict access to emergency contraception and birth control. And after celebrating the overturning of Roe v. Wade last summer, he voted against the Right to Contraception Act.

House Republicans have been threatening to pass a national abortion ban since gaining the majority last November, and Johnson is the perfect ringleader for their tyrannical agenda.
