Hi there,

It’s hard to believe, but we’re only one week out from Election Day 2023.

After checking in with our volunteers on the ground, we’re feeling optimistic. But if past elections are any indication, the Virginia General Assembly races we’re targeting could be won or lost by just tens or hundreds of votes.

And in Ohio, grassroots organizers are dedicating time and resources to ensure more Ohioans vote YES on Issue 1 to protect reproductive freedom, and are working extra hard to combat the confusion sowed by the GOP’s deceptive ballot language.

These state-level elections will come down to voter turnout, and that turnout will be driven largely by whichever side can out-raise and out-organize the other. [Together, we can help make sure Democrats and our democracy come out on top—donate to the Immediate Impact Fund today!]([link removed])

Our team of experts has done the research for you and identified the most competitive races where you can make the greatest impact—quickly and easily with a single split donation. When you give to our Immediate Impact Fund, 100% of your donation goes directly to eight Virginia General Assembly candidates in the highly competitive, must-win districts that can prevent total Republican control in Virginia, and to two Ohio organizations mobilizing Ohioans to vote YES on Issue 1 and protect abortion access.

What happens in Ohio and Virginia impacts millions of folks in those states—and will have major national implications. A GOP trifecta in Virginia would not only give GOP Governor Glenn Youngkin unchecked power to implement his radical anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ+, anti-democracy agenda in the commonwealth, it could also blunt Democratic momentum as we head into must-win 2024 elections.

If Issue 1 fails in Ohio, it would be the first time since Roe was reversed that abortion access lost on the ballot at the state level—a dangerous signal to anti-abortion activists and GOP legislators poised to ban abortion in their own states and—if they have their way—nationwide.

Thankfully, we can stop these radical Republicans and their extremist agenda—with the power of our voices, our dollars, and our actions. [If you’re able, chip in $5, $50, $500, or whatever you can today!]([link removed])

If you’re not in a position to donate to candidates, check out [swingleft.org/virginia]([link removed]) and [swingleft.org/ohio]([link removed]) to find more ways to get involved in these final days.

It’s up to all of us to fight against GOP extremism in the year to come, and it starts by securing state-level victories on November 7. We know it’s possible with your support.
