Happy Halloween! The political landscape in Tennessee and DC is pretty spooky these days. It is more important than ever for me and other elected officials to continue working together to find common ground wherever possible. Despite the significant obstacles in our path to progress, we are fully committed to doing the work to improve the quality of life of our fellow Tennesseans.

Next week I am taking a brief break from my legislative work to host a fundraiser for our re-election campaign. The date of our event marks one year until Election Day 2024. Because I have spent most of the past year assisting my colleagues and new Demoratic candidates with their campaigns as the Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, this is my first (and possibly only) fundraiser of 2023. Your continued strong support of my efforts would be much appreciated. It is an honor to represent you, and I hope to be able to continue my service to our state in the years to come.

Recently, I co-hosted my first "State Government 101: How our state government works and how it can work for you" class with the Nashville Public Library - Southeast Branch ([link removed]). We were fortunate to be joined by representatives from multiple state departments, all of whom provided vital information about their respective roles and services. With so much renewed interest in state government and the amount of new people moving into our county, I wanted to provide an educational opportunity for residents of all ages. We had numerous people join us for two hours early on a Saturday morning in Antioch, and I look forward to providing more of this type of non-partisan civics education in the future. If you or your organization would like to host an event like this in the future, please let us know (mailto:[email protected]?subject=Request%20for%20State%20Govt%20101%20event). You can watch the recorded event on my Facebook ([link removed]) page.

John Ray kicks off his State Government 101 class on Oct. 21st in Antioch, TN.

I continue to research and draft new legislation for the upcoming legislative session. Please reach out (mailto:[email protected]?subject=Legislation%20suggestion) and share your ideas if you would like us to begin work on a new policy proposal.

Proud dad. Go Matadors!
