National Veterans Small Business Week
This week we celebrate the 10th annual National Veterans Small Business Week! We are proud to support local small businesses and help make sure entrepreneurs of all different backgrounds have the support they need to thrive.
Helping veterans access available credit and resources from the Small Business Administration (SBA) is a part of how we honor their service and have their backs for all they’ve sacrificed for our country.
On Thursday November 2nd at 10 AM EST, the SBA is hosting a virtual Access to Capital for Veterans event. You can register here.
Happy Birthday U.S. Navy

Congratulations to JBMDL and the 305th Air Mobility Wing on Sean’s Room
A few weeks ago, the Joint Base celebrated the official opening of Sean’s Room at the 305th Air Mobility Wing's Passenger Terminal.
Sean’s Room provides peer mental health support for airmen and local servicemembers across all branches of the military. This will be the newest mental health resource available to members at the joint base.
Reducing stigma and expanding mental healthcare access for our servicemembers and the whole community is so important. This program is a leading example of how we can deliver more people the help they need, when they need it.
House Republicans (Finally) Elect a New Speaker, Governing Begins Again
After long weeks of trial and error from House Republicans, they elected Congressman Mike Johnson (LA-04) last week to be the 56th Speaker. Congressman Kim voted against his nomination because of his extreme record in support of a national abortion ban with no exceptions, slashing Medicare and Social Security, and overturning the 2020 election. With the position finally filled, last Wednesday the House quickly took up a resolution declaring solidarity with our ally Israel and pledging security assistance.
Congressman Kim co-sponsored and voted to help the overwhelmingly bipartisan resolution pass last Wednesday.

Reflecting on Superstorm Sandy’s 11th Anniversary
The 29th of October marked 11 years since Superstorm Sandy devastated New Jersey communities. On this anniversary, we still feel its impact across New Jersey. We will never forget the devastation and loss it caused and the strength and resilience of our communities in the face of it all.
Our work to bring relief to everyone who needs it is not finished.
