Our never-ending fascination with all things education takes us to many corners of the world, from an examination of how families of English language learners in Seattle are excluded from special education decisions to what really goes on behind the scenes in higher education, the topic of a new podcast partnership with GBH News and The Hechinger Report.
We are particularly excited about this podcast, hosted by Jon Marcus and Kirk Carapezza, two veteran reporters conducting a clear, engaging conversation about the business of higher education that will help everyone gain a better understanding of the confusing – and often confounding – landscape. This week, Marcus also takes a look at Canada, where students benefit when adjunct professors are better paid and treated.
Our coverage of math also continues, with Jill Barshay’s look at research behind what was once my favorite tool for learning: flashcards! And from our partners at RetroReport we take you inside recent Supreme Court rulings on school prayer. As always, we hope you listen, learn from and read our stories, while urging friends and colleagues to sign up for our free newsletters. Another reminder: Every membership helps us continue this important work.
