Aspen Ignites: Conversations to Build a Better World is a series of original content from the Aspen Institute bringing together thoughtful people with diverse backgrounds and points of view. The episodes kick off with a variety of experts exploring topics ranging across technology, politics, and civil discourse through short discussions.

Recent Events

The 2023 Bloomberg CityLab, organized by Bloomberg Philanthropies in in partnership with the Aspen Institute, convened more than 500 mayors and leading urban and civic leaders spanning over 200 cities, 40 countries, and six continents across the globe to explore new ideas on urban innovation. Read more on how the Aspen Institute is tackling a key factor in implementing these ideas: trust.

The Aspen Latino Business Summit last month explored solutions to accelerate inclusive growth in Latino communities in areas like digitalization, regional supply chain strains, and sustainable business practices. The event’s highlights were featured in Forbes, as well as several WorkingNation pieces on closing the digital divide, increasing access to capital for Latino entrepreneurs, and increasing the percentage of Black, Latina, and Native American women in the tech industry.

In the News

MSSP Alert featured Aspen Digital’s new guidelines on how organizations can equip their information security teams to handle both the evolving threat landscape and their broader corporate responsibilities.

C-SPAN carried a speech delivered by Rep. Gabe Vazquez (NM), penned by Native Youth Leaders and the Center for Native Youth. The speech calls upon members of Congress “to be good relatives” in the event of a government shutdown.

The Energy and Environment Program’s work on shipping decarbonization has been making waves, including a CNN Business segment with the Aspen Shipping Decarbonization Initiative’s Ingrid Irigoyen. The Zero Emissions Maritime Buyers Alliance was also featured in Safety4Sea and Transport Advancement

The announcement of this year’s Ascend Fellows, 20 leaders from across the United States who are transforming systems so that all children and families can thrive, was featured in Politico, Taos News, and elsewhere.
