Dear John,
Over the past few years, teachers have seen their workload
soar as school funding and resources have dwindled.
Yet they’ve continued to go the extra mile to make sure our
children get the very best start in life.
So, like me, you might’ve been pleased to hear that they’ll
be getting a 2.75% pay rise in the next academic year.
But nothing is ever as straightforward as it seems...
The Government will only be funding 0.75% of the increase,
meaning that schools will have to fork out the rest themselves. That
is ridiculous!
Headteachers will be forced to decide which support staff they’ll
have to sack or which supplies they’ll have to cut to afford this pay
rise.
We shouldn't have to choose -- our schools should be fully funded
and our teachers paid properly.
If you agree, then please add your name to my campaign to
reverse school cuts:
We’re close to reaching 2,000 signatures and with your support, we
can make our campaign even stronger.
Best wishes,
Tom Brake MP Lib Dem MP for Carshalton &
Wallington
