Since masterminding President Trump's fake elector scheme designed to undermine the 2020 election, attorney Kenneth J. Chesebro continued to make false assertions that hisinvolvement was focused solely on legal strategies — assertions now undercut by the plea deal he recently struck in Georgia. Late yesterday, LDAD outlined to bar authorities in New York and California that the conduct he has exhibited — and now admitted to – requires his disbarment, notwithstanding assertions by his defense counsel that he will retain his law license. |
Today’s action comes one year after LDAD submitted its initial ethics complaints in New York and California against Mr. Chesebro. Make no mistake: Our democracy and the public's faith in it has been weakened not just by our former President, but by powerful lawyers willing to forgo their sworn obligations to the rule of law. The urgency of our obligation to speak out cannot be overstated.
