There is so much happening in the news right now. Every day, our children are presented with upsetting headlines and frightening uncertainties. It’s hard to know how to guide them through this challenging time – especially when we’re not really sure how to handle it ourselves.

We have endorsed some extraordinary women for school board races, and three of them will be on the ballot in just ONE WEEK: Allison Spillman and Reverend Crystal Varner Parker in Virginia, and Janella Astorga in New Mexico. They all have one goal in common: making schools safer for our kids.

We know that voters don’t always pay attention to critical down-ballot races, but far-right extremist organizations across the country, specifically Moms for Liberty, have managed to raise millions of dollars in an attempt to infiltrate our school boards with their values. They run on a platform that advocates against school curricula that mention LGBTQIA+ rights, race and ethnicity, critical race theory, and discrimination. They also work to ban books that address gender and sexuality.

Organizations like that are infiltrating all of our communities.

Going to school in 2023 looks very different than it did in recent history. These kids are facing different kinds of challenges – compounded by the fact that their school districts have become political battlegrounds.

Moms for Liberty donors are poised to dump millions into school board races across the nation, and in order to fight back, we need to build a war chest of our own.
