Dear John, It’s the scariest day of the year, but not for the reason you think. We are in a tied race only SEVEN DAYS away from a very consequential election - one that could decide the state of women’s healthcare in Virginia for a generation.
Here are the frightening facts: - Maternal mortality rates are TWICE as high in states that have restricted abortion.
-
Black and Hispanic women are most likely to be affected.
- Abortion restrictions are causing practitioners to relocate to other states, leaving those who need it most with little to no healthcare.
- The GOP is also attempting to sidestep the FDA and outlaw medication-based abortion.
This is what happens when legislators think they know more than doctors: they put the people most in need of care at risk. Sadly, it makes me wonder who those legislators serve.
Let’s show that we care for our sisters and brothers, and vote. And if you’d like to help me get out the vote in this very important and tight election, donate to my campaign. We’ll be able to knock on more doors and let folks know how important it is to get to the polls. |
