I wanted to make sure you saw this message from Hillary about the new House Speaker.

Republicans hope we aren’t paying attention to their relatively unknown speaker. Unfortunately for them, Hillary is here to call out his extreme anti-LGBTQ, anti-democracy, and anti-choice positions. It’s time to fight back against this dangerous extremism.

It’s official: Republicans elected a Speaker, Republican Mike Johnson. 

Despite weeks of chaos in the House, where Republicans failed to deliver any advances for the American people, wasting time and taxpayer money, they could not govern and agree on a speaker until their cult leader, Donald Trump, backed Mike Johnson. 

Republicans came close to putting democracy first when they elected Tom Emmer–who did vote to uphold the votes of the American people–as their speaker designate (for 4 hours). But then Trump called his foot soldiers off and told them to back Mike Johnson. And the rest is history. Not a single Republican voted against him.

It’s clear the Republican Caucus is Donald Trump’s Caucus. They only listen to him and only elevate individuals who back his extreme agenda. 

Mike Johnson’s Extreme MAGA credentials include:

• Leading the effort to overturn the 2020 election in the House
• Championing an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the woman–criminalizing doctors and nurses for saving a young girl’s life
• Dehumanizing members of the LGBTQ community, and even going so far as writing that homosexual conduct should be criminalized. 
• Abandoning our veterans by voting against the PACT Act, providing assistance for those exposed to burn pits
• Supporting massive cuts to Social Security and Medicare

Folks, I know it seems a ways off, but the 2024 election is right around the corner.

We have to send a clear message that Donald Trump’s Republican Party has no home in West Michigan or the US House.
