Join us virtually next Wednesday, November 8 for our second annual Indi + Friends event "Building Power in Policy Advocacy: Centering Lived Experiences." CLASP's president and executive director, Indi Dutta-Gupta, will be moderating alongside a stellar lineup of panelists to discuss t he effects of federal policies on millions of working people, children, youth, immigrants, and families. Indi and the panelists will also address the need to ensure that both policymakers and the broader social and economic justice ecosystem prioritize centering authentic and sustainable collaborations with individuals who have lived experiences. [[link removed]] Rosazlia Grillier "Ms. Rose"
Rosazlia Grillier, or Ms. Rose, is an advocate for all things equitable! She is a survivor of multiple life-threatening illnesses and a factotum and pioneer in the realm of real parent engagement and advocacy. Rosazlia's nevertheless determination fosters many hats. Ms. Rose serves on multiple local and national boards and advisories. She is a trainer and board chair of Community Organizing & Family Issues (COF) and is also co-president emeritus of POWER-PAC IL, in which she served many years as president. Ms. Rose has mentored other leaders to walk in that role and she continues to participate with a strong voice in many collaborative ground efforts such as The Transit Table, Economic Justice Coalition, and FIAI (formerly known as IABG), where she helped create their new name, Financial Inclusion for All of IL. She also worked for years to help pass and push for implementation of The Children's Savings Account Legislation, and has worked for many years on fines/fees, debt collection, and utility relief. Ms. Rose has also worked in partnership with Blacks in Green (BIG) to create and soon pass the Peoples Utility Relief Reform (PURR)-HB2172 as a part of The Campaign to End Energy Poverty! Ms. Rose serves nationally as a governing council and founding member of UPLAN (United Parent Leaders Action Network). She also sits on the board for the National Association for Family School & Community Engagement (NAFSCE), PFLC, the Family Math Advisory PAC, and she is one of three parents on the Funders for Educational Leadership Parent Advisory. Rosazlia has received numerous local and national awards for her commitment and service. No matter the challenge a day might bring, Rosazlia comes equipped to encourage equitable collaborations and partnerships so everyone wins with a goal to inspire a vision that “ignites positive change ❣ worldwide!”
Andrea Anaya [[link removed]]
Andrea Anaya is a senior at Marymount University in Arlington, VA studying political science and sociology. Her journey began when she migrated to the United States from El Salvador at the age of five, which, in turn, marked the onset of numerous challenges stemming from her immigration status. Andrea's experiences have revealed the systemic obstacles faced by immigrants in the United States, encompassing hurdles like navigating the college application process, obtaining a work permit, and accessing fundamental healthcare and necessities. These experiences have fueled her passion for change, and Andrea has actively engaged with organizations like United We Dream and the President's Alliance on Higher Education & Immigration. Andrea seeks to empower her community and inspire positive transformations in the realm of immigration, striving for a more comprehensive immigration reform.
