Free event celebrates adoptive families and highlights need for more adoption and kinship families
Who: Adults interested in learning about kinship care and adoption of children from the foster care system, families who have adopted children from foster care, and kin who welcomed children into their homes permanently in the last year
What: 26th annual Celebrate Adoption: Circus of Heart
- Celebration of 1,006 children adopted from the foster care system last year
- Event includes games, crafts, music, prizes, mascots
- Information tables staffed by adoption experts
- Introductory remarks by Human Services Commissioner Jodi Harpstead
When: Saturday, Nov. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m.
- Doors open at 1 p.m.
- Brief program starts shortly after 1 p.m.
- Prize drawings start at 3 p.m.
Where: Hybrid event
- New location at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, Falcon Heights, Minnesota, in the North End Event Center, at the north end of the fairgrounds near Murphy and Cosgrove
- Virtual event will take place at the same time for those who pre-registered
Why: Circus of the Heart celebrates families who adopted 1,006 children from the foster care system and kin who welcomed 637 children into their homes permanently in 2022. The event also emphasizes the need for loving families for the 522 children still in the foster care system, many of them teens, in sibling groups or with mental health needs
