Shortages of safe, clean water and the lack of sanitation and hygiene programs create the most significant source of suffering on earth. Unto^® works with local staff teams and community leadership in areas of need to drill new clean water wells, repair broken wells, provide water filters, and carry out sanitation and hygiene programs. As physical needs are met, local staff teams have the opportunity to share about Jesus and establish new churches.

Malingose and her children used to spend hours collecting water every day. With no functioning well nearby, one of her five children was forced to stay home from school each day just to help fetch water.

The local staff team stepped in to repair the well in Malingose’s village. As they repaired the well, they also shared about Jesus. Nine villagers responded to the message of eternal hope, and the team will soon start a women’s ministry in partnership with the Jesus Film Project^®.

In neighboring Tanzania Hamza’s* village also lacked clean water. The women were forced to spend all day, walking over 18 miles round trip, to collect water. The only other option was to drink from a dirty source contaminated by animals. Families were exhausted. Marriages were falling apart. People were plagued by waterborne diseases.

Because of faithful partners like you, local staff members were able to drill a new clean water well in the village. Most people, like Hamza, follow the majority religion. But now they have heard the message of eternal hope and know that God cares for them.
