** Help your audience get their facts straight before another election year
------------------------------------------------------------

This time next year, Americans will be preparing to cast their votes in an election where rampant misinformation could make things even more complicated than the last time we headed to the ballot box.
Learn how to break down the nonsense for your audience before we head into another election year with Poynter and PolitiFact during our third annual United Facts of America.
This free online festival of fact-checking will feature live and on-demand sessions Nov. 6-8 with leading voices from across the political spectrum.
On Monday, ABC News Political Director Rick Klein ([link removed]) will tell us what we can expect to see during the race. Also Monday, Dr. Céline Gounder ([link removed]) , CBS News medical contributor and wife of the late soccer journalist Grant Wahl whose sudden death was exploited by anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorists, will delve into the grave consequences of widespread anti-vaccination misinformation. Peter Benzoni ([link removed]) from the Alliance for Securing Democracy will teach us how — and why — Russian propaganda is bypassing content bans and posing as local news.
Then, we’ll get to know what the average American voter really wants with Sarah Longwell ([link removed]) , publisher of The xxxxxx and host of “The Focus Group” podcast, on Tuesday before discussing the facts about Trump’s charges with Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg ([link removed]) and Jon Sale ([link removed]) , a former Watergate special prosecutor and former attorney for Rudy Giuliani.
We’ll shift our focus on Wednesday to examine the threat of artificial intelligence in the Israel-Hamas war. Plus, attendees will get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how PolitiFact’s on-the-ground reporting team prepares to fact-check a U.S. presidential debate just hours before they cover the third Republican presidential primary debate in Miami.

How Any Journalist Can Earn Trust
Self-directed course, start any time
We have to stop assuming people understand the mission, ethics and processes behind our work in journalism. We can’t let ourselves get lumped in with perceptions of “the media.” Instead, we need to actively work to earn trust from our communities by telling them why we’re worthy of their time, trust and support.
This online, self-directed course, developed in partnership with our friends at Trusting News, ([link removed]) will help you understand mistrust and gain a better understanding of what trust in news looks like around the world. Examples and activities are designed for non-U.S. news media and fact-checking organizations, in collaboration with Poynter’s International Fact-Checking Network. If you are based in the U.S., check out this version ([link removed]) instead.
Cost: Free.
