You've received so many emails from me, but I promise it's all coming to an end soon (I'll explain more later). But right now, AYD is laser-focused on Tuesday, November 7th - Election Day.
Abortion rights, lgbtqia+ rights, climate, affordable housing, and so many more critical issues are on the ballot this year. We're now in the final stretch of this campaign season, and I know you've done a lot already, but I need you to just give a little more of your time and energy.
Tomorrow night, Wednesday, November 1st at 7PM is the Arlington Democrats Monthly Meeting at Drew Elementary School. This is the last ArlDems meeting before Election Day - so be sure to come if you can. Our Democratic nominees will be there and we'll be going over updates from the Joint Campaign and Precinct Operations on what we're doing on Election Day.
Speaking of Precinct Operations, I have an important ask to make. We are still looking for Poll Greeters for Election Day, can you help us out? Poll Greeters are one of the most important roles out there on Election Day, they are responsible for handing out our Democratic Sample Ballot to voters. There are 54 polling locations spread across Arlington that needs to be staffed from 5:30AM to 7PM. Whether you can do it for one hour or four hours, any amount of time helps tremendously. Now, here's what I meant up top when I say that soon you'll stop receiving emails from me. On Thursday, November 16th - AYD will be holding our Executive Board Elections for the 2024 term. Every elected position on the E-Board from the President on down (including this one that emails you) is on the ballot. If you are interested in running for a position, you must submit your application by Thursday, November 9th at 11:59PM and must be a dues-paying member.
We are also accepting applications for appointed positions on the AYD E-Board, but those applications are not due until Sunday, November 19th at 11:59PM.
And lastly, on a personal note, it's been a joy and privilege to grace your inboxes for the last two years. But also after two terms as AYD Secretary, it's time to pass the torch. So please, someone take my job - I'm begging.
