Dear JOHN,

Just last week, the House of Representatives selected a new Speaker of the House.  Representative Mike Johnson, a conservative from Louisiana, now officially takes over the gavel in what could be a promising time in DC for House Republicans and our country.
 
I, for one, see a huge opportunity in this change. 
 
It seems the Republicans in the House have come together and are ready to move forward with a positive, common-sense agenda for our country.  Even so, as demonstrated very clearly by all of these votes for Speaker, we need to have more pragmatic, conservative Republicans in the House to work for the people.

I came close to serving as a Congressman in 2022, and as this November approaches, I have been thinking about November of 2021 when I announced my run.  That official announcement was about 1 year before the 2022 election. 
 
Now, my wife April and I, are praying to see if another such announcement should come this coming November, about 1 year before the 2024 election.  I have to tell you - the only reason we can even consider this possibility is because of you and your help for the campaign.
 
This is an important time period. Congressman David Trone, my past Democrat opponent, is running for US Senate, and the seat is up for grabs.  We have a unique opportunity to pick up a US House Seat right here in Maryland. 
 
We are seriously considering this Congressional seat, because we need an experienced legislator to be ready to work on day one.  We need someone who campaigns diligently and has a proven record of winning elections in order to take advantage of this opportunity.

With the help of Judicial Watch, I took on the Maryland Legislature and forced them to redraw the congressional district lines to what we have today.  Now, Maryland's Congressional District 6 is very competitive. 

In order to win this seat in November though, we need to go in full force.  The general election is going to be difficult, but I know that it can and must be won by someone who knows how to work effectively in the legislature promoting common-sense, conservative principles.
 
With regard to the new Speaker, Speaker Johnson could be just what our country needs to actually tackle common-sense issues like securing our southern border and working to reduce spending.

At the end of this year, a huge omnibus bill is planned that will give the spending-and-debt-hungry Democrat leaders all they want.  Let's hope Speaker Johnson and the Republicans in the House take leadership and offer a better solution, one that the American people can get behind.

It is also good that the Speaker has been selected now.  We need the Republicans to be united in their support for Israel and against evil in this world. 

What Hamas did to Israeli civilians is pure evil.  On October 7, 2023, Hamas invaded Israel and killed over 1,400 men, women, children, and infants, including over two dozen Americans.  They are now holding over 200 hostages captured during that horrific attack, including Americans.
 
A reporter just asked me, “How do you think the country should respond to the crisis in Israel and Gaza?” I wrote the following:

The US should provide a supportive role for Israel as we are doing.  I don’t think, however, that we should be advising them to stall on their tactics.  Now is the time for Israel to go after Hamas to try to eliminate them as a future, credible threat.
 
In addition, we should not negotiate with terrorists.  In 1985 Ronald Reagan indicated, "America will never make concessions to terrorists -- to do so would only invite more terrorism." Freeing up $6 Billion in frozen assets to go to Iran in order to free 5 prisoners was a colossal mistake and simply emboldened enemies of the US and Israel.
 
One other point - the US needs to allow more drilling for oil in our own country and work to refill the oil reserves.  By working towards becoming energy-independent again, we will reduce the cost of oil.   Since Iran relies on oil as its major export, this change would reduce Iran’s financial assets to invest in terrorism.

These are troubling times that we are living in. Thank you for doing your part by supporting good candidates, praying for our country, and working for proven, conservative causes that will actually help our families.
