Our southern border is experiencing an escalating national security and humanitarian catastrophe. According to the Department of Homeland Security, over 200,000 migrants attempted to cross illegally last month alone, and a record number of individuals on the terrorism watch list are actively attempting to enter the United States illegally. This escalating situation stems from President Biden's reckless open border policies and a reluctance to enforce immigration laws.
That is why, earlier this year, I voted to pass the Secure the Border Act. This important legislation would stop the chaos at the border and restore law and order by:
- Forces the Biden Administration to restart construction of the border wall
- Increase the number of Border Patrol agents
- Requires transparency regarding illegal crossings from the Department of Homeland Security
- Ends abuse of executive immigration authority
- Strengthens and streamlines the asylum process
