After weeks of dysfunction and chaos, House Republicans have finally chosen a Speaker: Mike Johnson of Louisiana.

Although he’s not as well known as Jim Jordan or Kevin McCarthy, he’s just as dangerous — if not even moreso.

He led the charge to overturn the 2020 election and install Donald Trump. He opposes LGBTQ rights and wants a national abortion ban. And one of his top priorities is to gut Social Security and Medicaid.
