Kitsap County launches Operation Green Light Nov. 6-12 in support of local veterans
In advance of Veterans Day Nov. 11, Kitsap County announces that county buildings will be illuminated in green Nov.6-12 as part of Operation Green Light, a collaboration of the National Association of Counties and National Association of County Veteran Service Officers.
Kitsap County Commissioners passed a resolution Oct. 23 proclaiming their support of Operation Green Light. This initiative is in its second year to recognize and support military veterans ? and to raise awareness about the challenges faced by many veterans and resources available to assist them and their families.
County Commissioners and the Kitsap County Veterans Advisory Board encourage everyone to participate by changing one light bulb in their home or business to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors and passersby see, or an interior light that sparks a conversation with friends.?
Operation Green Light lets veterans and their families know their service matters. The symbolic green lighting is a way of expressing gratitude for their sacrifices while reflecting on military service personnel and their transition back into civilian life after completion of their service to our country. Please join us in this special recognition!
