House Republicans have proven – yet again – that there are zero so-called moderates left in their party. Every single one of them just voted to elevate election denying, anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ, MAGA extremist Mike Johnson to Speaker of the House.
Not surprising, but still disturbing.

Don’t let his folksy, “nice guy” demeanor fool you. He might not be as loud as Jim Jordan, but as Ranking Member on the House Judiciary Committee, I’ve seen Mike Johnson’s extremism up close.
He has attacked Roe v. Wade and insisted that if only women were to bring more “able-bodied workers” into the world, then Republicans wouldn’t need to slash Social Security and Medicare. Plus, he has supported a total abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the woman.
Mike Johnson was one of the main architects of the illegal efforts to overturn the 2020 Election, and continues to be a part of the Republican’s attempts to use the Judiciary Committee to do everything it can to protect Trump and send him back to the White House.
And in his extreme anti-immigrant rhetoric, he has even repeatedly promoted the white nationalist “great replacement” theory, suggesting non-white migrants are an “invasion.”
Mike Johnson’s extremism is dangerous. Plain and simple.
