John,
The response to my last email was overwhelming. Thank you for being as concerned about Mike Johnson’s speakership as I am, and to the kind folks who donated… I simply can’t thank you enough.
Running for office in a state like ours, against an opponent with the full support of the NRA and corporate giants – to tell the truth, it’s a daunting task. But there are two factors that keep me going.
The first is YOU.
When I’m at events, hearing your stories and how your family has been held back by Mike Simpson and Republicans in Congress, I know that nothing is more important than running to replace him.
That feeling is reinforced every time I see a positive response from an email that was personal to me, and yesterday’s was personal for many reasons.
Which leads me to the second reason I won’t stop fighting for you: THEM.
Even with our legislative branch in a chokehold while the House couldn’t vote on a single bill, Republicans managed to remind us how little they care about my rights, women’s rights, or even a functioning government.
They showed us when they backed Jim Jordan for Speaker, and they doubled down by electing Mike Johnson – a man who believes he was elected by God to put an end to abortion and marriage equality.
Now we’re just over two weeks away from another government shutdown, and reports indicate Johnson won’t be as willing to compromise with Democrats as Kevin McCarthy was.
When I think about the chaos we’ve seen from Republicans this month and every month in recent memory, I know brave Americans like me have to step up and do something to fight back, no matter the obstacles.
John, the campaign is just $5,400 short of hitting our October fundraising goal, but I know with your support we can squash that these next two days. Can you chip in $24 today to send me to Congress in 2024, so I can continue fighting for us after this election?
