Our race for Governor just got a new GOP opponent –  multi-millionaire trial lawyer and former Jesse Helms staffer Bill Graham.

Graham wasted no time: He used his launch announcement as a shallow attempt to smear my record and promised to spend $5 million of his own money on this race, beginning with TV ads that started airing this week.

Let me be crystal clear: I refuse to let anyone buy this election with their personal wealth and network of deep-pocketed national donors.

Look, I’ve spent a lot of time telling you about my other Republican opponent Mark Robinson – an extremist with the backing of Donald Trump. That’s because he’s a threat to our North Carolinian values with a history of espousing dangerous conspiracy theories and bigoted rhetoric.

But the harsh reality is this: the NC Republican politicians keep moving further right with even more extreme ideas every day. They support banning abortion, restricting access to the ballot box, attacking trusted institutions of our democracy, defunding public education, and protecting guns rather than kids. Just to name a few.
