I’ve experienced the issues our country is facing through my patients’ eyes, through the lives of my fellow servicemembers, and as a father and husband.

One morning while eating breakfast before school, my middle school daughter asked, "Do you like running for Congress?" It caught me off guard because usually, I’m the one asking her questions about what she likes. Without hesitation, I said, “Yes, I do,” which led to a longer discussion over waffles soaked in syrup about the demands of being a candidate, and how campaigning impacts our family. And I felt a sense of pride seeing how my desire to serve is shaping my daughter’s worldview, as my father’s service did mine.

As a boy, I watched with pride as my father put on his Air Force uniform day after day. Seeing his commitment to something greater than himself instilled a sense of service within me. A family legacy I continued as a first-generation college graduate, Air Force officer, and trauma surgeon. Service before self is an ethos I internalized during my formative years at the United States Air Force Academy — and running for Congress is the best way for me to continue to serve.

I’ve seen the issues our country is facing through my patients’ eyes, through the lives of my fellow servicemembers, and as a father and husband. Gun violence, affordable healthcare, reproductive freedom, and the climate crisis are all issues we must address immediately – and I am ready to bring my record of service as a veteran, doctor, and community leader to Washington and get the job done.

So yes, John, I do like running for Congress. Because I know we can solve the issues of today by sending the right leaders to serve. So I’m answering the call, but to win, I need your help.

Tomorrow, my campaign will be facing its October end-of-month deadline, and my team set a goal to raise $50,000 before midnight. Can I count on you to make a contribution? Donate $10 before tomorrow at midnight >>
