John, working in a safe and healthy environment is a human right.
But in typical conversations about workplace safety, temporary workers are often overlooked and taken for granted, all while often working in the most unsafe conditions.
I'm a strong believer that temp workers should be given the same consideration as permanent workers – that's why I'm proud that my bill, the Temp Worker Fairness and Safety Act, was passed this summer.
Before I tell you more, I'm working hard to get my name on the ballot in 2024 and continue to fight for life-changing legislation, but my campaign needs your help to meet my $812 End of Month Fundraising Goal. Will you donate $15, $35 or $50 today?

John, this really was a team effort. Thanks to the hard work of Chicago's Workers' Collaborative, Illinois AFL-CIO, and Rep. Edgar Gonzalez, we've been able to make huge strides in temporary workers' rights. Under the new law:
1️⃣ Temp workers assigned to a client for more than 90 days will be paid no less than the lowest paid hired employee of that client.
2️⃣ Agencies are required to notify laborers whether an assigned workplace is where a strike, lockout or other labor issue is happening, and laborers have the right to refuse the assignment.
3️⃣ Agencies must obtain information about a workplace's safety practices and provide training on industry hazards workers might encounter.
Temporary workers work just as hard at the job at hand as permanent workers – why shouldn't they receive the same amount of safety precautions, transparency, and support as them, too?
I'm excited to see the positive impact that this will have on our residents, but the work to put our people first is far from over.
I want to continue being a strong voice for our residents, but my next campaign could really use your early support. Will you help me reach my initial fundraising goals by pitching in any amount before my End of Month Fundraising Deadline at midnight?
