Last night, our opponent, Rep. Joyce Beatty, did not show up for the the third and final forum for OH-3’s congressional candidates. Morgan, however, prioritized being with community members eager to hear directly from those who want to represent them.

Morgan didn’t shy away from the truth. She spoke out about the recent story of Rep. Beatty profiting off of this community’s problems. Morgan directly called out Rep. Beatty for “brokering behind-the-scenes real-estate deals that are gentrifying our communities.”

Let’s be clear, Morgan earned roaring applause for her fearless take on what’s really happening here: Rep. Beatty misused her power and needs to take responsibility for her actions. Instead, she’s making excuses and avoiding accountability. This is part of a larger problem. Political leaders are too focused on enriching themselves over the needs of the community — and it has to stop.
