John -- I'm re-sending the email below that I sent over the weekend in case you missed it. This is an incredible opportunity, but we need to act fast. -- Robert Reich
Dear John,
I’ve been reviewing the results of the latest videos that we’ve been testing about the Biden economy to see if they sway voters, and the numbers are incredible.
For instance, one video that we tested focused on why big corporations should be blamed for inflation and how Republican policies would only make things worse. That video alone moved Trump voters more than 18 points. Non-college-educated voters, who have been a key voting bloc moving away from Democrats, moved our way by 9 to 15 points.
The public opinion experts we work with say that it’s rare to move a target audience by more than 2 to 3 points. In fact, we had to rerun some of these tests just to make sure they weren’t a mistake! Now they’re telling us that we just need to get these videos in front of as many voters as humanly possible right now.
Here’s the rub: To really hit our target audience, we need to raise $50,000 by the end of this week. That’s a lot of money for a grassroots-funded organization. But if everyone who got this email gave just $1, we’d absolutely crush that goal.
So I’m asking you today: Will you chip in to help educate the public and make sure we can get these videos, and others like them, in front of as many voters as possible right now, while our message is resonating?
Inequality Media Civic Action was founded in 2015 with the mission of educating the public about the key economic issues and policies that the corporate media either can’t or won’t address.
Since our founding, our videos have been viewed nearly half a billion times. With nearly 4.5 million social media followers from every state in the U.S., we have an average weekly reach of over 14 million and an average weekly engagement of over 1 million.
All that sounds very impressive, but if we’re just preaching to the choir, who cares? In order to have a real impact on policy and political outcomes, we need to reach the people who aren’t already voting for progressive candidates, as well as people who aren’t even voting at all.
That’s why these latest test results are so exciting to me.
Across every demographic — men and women, urban and rural, religious and secular, you name it — these videos are resonating incredibly well. In fact, we’re seeing bigger shifts among people who aren’t on our side than those who are!
But the secret to our success is a combination of both execution and timing. These videos, which focus on the causes of inflation and monopolistic pricing power of big corporations, are landing with people right now because this is a message they are hungry for. By next year, the mood might change. So to take full advantage of these results, we need to act right now.
Please chip in whatever you can afford to help us educate the public and help move the Trump voters and non-voters that we need to win in 2024.
Thank you for helping to get the truth out,
Robert Reich
