Friend, You may have read about this. I’m proud that we’ve moved it forward. Our Georgia Department of Corrections has signed an agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to RENEW their collaboration aimed at deporting dangerous illegal aliens from our state. As Governor, public safety is my TOP priority. We cannot sit back while cartel members infiltrate Georgia and use our state as a distribution hub for deadly drugs. Please share this Facebook post below, to help let your family and friends know about this important collaboration with the Trump administration to build a stronger, safer Georgia.
The 287(g) program is about restoring the rule of law. It enables our Georgia Department of Corrections officers to be cross-trained as designated immigration officers, so that they can identify dangerous criminals who fall under ICE’s civil immigration enforcement priorities and process them for removal. It’s an important part of our comprehensive effort to track and deport criminals, so they can no longer wreak havoc in communities throughout Georgia. Again, please take just a moment to share my Facebook post, to help get out the word. - Governor Kemp
