We thought you might be interested in this virtual event happening this week hosted by our friends at CWA:
Hi John,
We all know organizing a union with your co-workers in this country is hard work. It’s especially hard in the South, and in places like Texas, where I’m from.
That’s why I’m incredibly inspired by the courageous organizing of federal call center workers at Maximus, who answer calls for Medicare and the Affordable Care Act. In the face of mass layoffs, having the cops called on them and multiple charges filed with the NLRB for union busting, these courageous workers continue to push forward.
Now, they’re calling for a strike on November 9th—and I want them to know we have their backs.
Will you join me for a virtual rally on November 1 at 8 pm ET to show them some love and hear how you can support their fight?
No one can take on multi-billion dollar corporations like Maximus alone. It takes ALL OF US. I hope to see you at the rally on Wednesday evening. Click here to register.
In Solidarity,
Claude Cummings Jr.
CWA President
p.s. Can’t make it to the Rally? Support the workers by sending a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra asking him to investigate whether Maximus’ labor practices are consistent with its responsibilities as an HHS contractor. You can also donate to their solidarity fund.
