After weeks of chaos, House Republicans have finally selected a new Speaker of the House — and Mike Johnson of Louisiana may be the most extremist Speaker we’ve ever had.

He’s an election denier who actively attempted to overturn the 2020 election and install Donald Trump. He has pushed for a total abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the mother. And he said in his first speech as Speaker that he intends to destroy Social Security and Medicare.

It’s chilling. It’s unacceptable. And it needs to end.
