October was a HUGE month for our campaign. I’m proud to report that we brought in a record number of individual donations—more than 450 people donated to our campaign so far this month. Together, we can get that number even higher.
I was honored to speak to the Sun City Summerlin Conservative Club and UNLV College Republicans. In addition, I also attended Nevada Policy’s fantastic annual benefit dinner as well as a joint fundraiser for Battle Born Republican Women, the Republican Women of Las Vegas, and Southern Hills Republican Women.
Finally, I spent time with a number of Republican members of Congress just as they were selecting a new House speaker. I am proud to report that they made a great choice. Mike Johnson is a principled, unifying voice who will prove to be a great speaker. I look forward to working with him after I’m elected to represent Nevada’s 3rd congressional district!
But that doesn’t mean that it’s all good news. In fact, there are several things going on with our government that are downright frightful. So, I thought I’d use Halloween as an opportunity to share a list of the "Government's Top-5 Spookiest Tricks" that will be haunting Southern Nevada residents this Halloween.
Government's Top-5 Spookiest Tricks:
1. INFLATION
Here in Las Vegas, the cost of Halloween candy, decorations, and costumes is up more than 13% over last year. That means the average household will spend nearly $15 more than last Halloween, with nothing more to show for it, all because of the blood-sucking inflationary policies of big-spenders like Joe Biden and Susie Lee.
2. WASTEFUL SPENDING
The National Institutes of Health gave $418,000 of OUR tax money to researchers at the University of Maryland to develop underwear with electronics to measure how the sound and smell of flatulence changes depending on what people eat.
3. REPUBLICANS WE CAN’T TRUST
Heidi Kasama, my GOP primary challenger in Nevada’s 3rd congressional district, has a terrible habit of stabbing Republicans in the back. First, Kasama oversaw $35,000 in campaign donations to Democratic Hamas sympathizers Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar. Then, as a member of the Nevada Assembly, Heidi voted to send $25 million in state taxpayers’ money to the Culinary Union, a far-left organization that campaigns each cycle to defeat Republicans up and down the ballot.
4. FOREIGN AID
Under President Biden, the United States has sent more than $730 million to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. That money has been used to fund, among other things, teachers and educational materials calling for the murder of Jews. Some of the funds have also reportedly fallen into the hands of anti-US and anti-Israeli terrorist organizations.
5. TERRIBLE TARIFFS
Biden’s Commerce Department is considering a plan to levy expensive tariffs on the type of metal used to make tin cans. As I mentioned in a column I wrote for the Reno Gazette Journal, this cruel and regressive tax would hammer lower-income Nevadans by increasing the cost of pantry staples from canned corn and Spam to Campbell’s soup and dog food by about 58 cents per can.
As a government watchdog and conservative policy analyst, you can trust me to make government smaller and a little less spooky.

On the Campaign Trail
Drew was the guest speaker at the October meeting of the Sun City Summerlin Conservatives Club. He discussed his journey from growing up poor in rural Appalachia to becoming a national conservative columnist and one of America's leading taxpayer watchdogs.
Drew joined conservative commentator Katie Pavlich and more than a dozen members of Congress at a fundraiser for United Zatzalah in Washington, DC. United Hatzalah is an independent, non-profit, fully volunteer emergency medical service organization that provides life-saving emergency medical services throughout Israel free of charge and often in less than two minutes.
Drew attended Nevada Policy's "Spirit of Las Vegas" benefit dinner featuring Victor David Hanson. Drew is a huge fan of Nevada Policy, as well as the founder and longtime president of Nevada Policy's sister think tank in Tennessee, where his work led to lower taxes, increased parental choice, and fewer regulatory burdens on job creators.
Invite Drew to speak at your next event! Email [email protected] for more information.
Taxpayer Pledge
Earlier this month, Drew signed the Federal Taxpayer Protection Pledge, which is his promise to the taxpayers of Nevada that he will:
1. Oppose any and all efforts to increase marginal income tax rates for individuals and businesses.
2. Oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar, by further reducing tax rates.
A former fellow of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance and policy analyst at the National Taxpayers Union, Drew has saved taxpayers over $60 billion in his career. He is dedicated to saving Nevadans from burdensome tax increases.
