PFAW Member, Over 15,000 PFAW members like you have spoken out in opposition to Trump's renomination of Rep. John Ratcliffe as Director of National Intelligence – and there is good reason to be concerned. While serving as a loyal lapdog to Trump and his administration, Rep. Ratcliffe continues to demonstrate a shocking level of disdain for the intelligence community, that, if Ratcliffe is confirmed he would be in charge of overseeing! New reporting from our team at Right Wing Watch covered recent comments Rep. Ratcliffe gave to the CPAC conference just days ago where he again took an opportunity to criticize the intelligence community:
For a position of great importance like the DNI, we cannot afford to have such a partisan sycophant in charge of our nation's intelligence communities. There is far too much at stake with growing outside threats to entrust a Trump loyalist for this role. Demand that the Senate votes "NO" on Ratcliffe >> Thank you, -- Zach, PFAW
----[previous message]---- PFAW Member, After a failed nomination just last fall, President Trump has decided to RENOMINATE one of his favorite political lackey's: Rep. John Ratcliffe, to be Director of National Intelligence – a role he is completely unqualified to fill. After recent high-profile clashes with the U.S. intelligence community, Trump has decided he would prefer someone as DNI who is loyal to him above all else and he decided he'd select the same person who faced bipartisan rejection just months ago after being nominated for the same job. An ardent supporter of Trump, Ratcliffe doesn't miss an opportunity to come to his defense, including doing everything he could to de-legitimize the impeachment proceedings when the House was conducting their investigations. Even some Republicans question Ratcliffe's credentials for the job, including the fact that he has been known to over-exaggerate his national defense and security expertise! Many fear Ratcliffe would continue to politicize the intelligence community, which is of particular concern when, as now, our nation is especially vulnerable to ongoing election interference from foreign adversaries – a threat Trump continues to downplay. In fact, Trump is so desperate to deflect attention to Russia that he became irate with former acting DNI, Joseph Maguire, when he learned that Maguire gave a briefing to members of Congress regarding the ongoing interference campaign that Russia is waging in the 2020 election. Trump became so angry about the briefing that he FIRED Maguire over the briefing – alleging that he had given the Democrats “political ammo” to defeat him in November. When the security of our nation (including its elections) are at-risk from foreign adversaries, we should resoundly reject anyone who would be a political loyalist rather than someone who is loyal first and foremost to the country. Tell the Senate to reject Ratcliffe!>> Thank you, - Zach, PFAW
