Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted Announce New Projects Expected to Create More Than
2,200 Jobs, $482 Million in Payroll 

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted today announced the approval of assistance for three projects set to create 2,247 new jobs and retain 63 jobs statewide.  

During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Collectively, the projects are expected to result in more than $152 million in new payroll and spur more than $482 million in investments across Ohio. 

Projects approved by the TCA include: 

_WEST_

*Joby Aero, Inc., city of Dayton (Montgomery** County),* expects to create 2,000 full-time positions, generating $140 million in new annual payroll, as a result of the company’s new Dayton location. Joby is an aerospace company that is developing an electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft designed to pioneer the air taxi market. The company plans to build a large-scale manufacturing facility capable of delivering up to 500 aircraft per year. TCA approved a 2.055 percent, 30-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project. 

_NORTHEAST_

*LabConnect LLC, city of Cleveland (Cuyahoga County), *expects to create 167 full-time positions, generating $8 million in new annual payroll, as a result of the company’s new location in Cleveland. LabConnect provides laboratory and functional outsourcing for biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, and contract research organizations. The company performs the assembly of test kits, sample management, and tracking, testing, or storing of specimens. The new location will provide bio storage and processing measures to accommodate expansion needs. The TCA approved a 1.475 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project. 

*Cleveland Kitchen Co., city of Cleveland (Cuyahoga County), *expects to create 80 full-time positions, generating $3.6 million in new annual payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project in Cleveland. Cleveland Kitchen manufactures packaged raw and probiotic fermented foods such as sauerkraut, kimchi, and pickles to be distributed and sold in grocery stores across the country. The project includes the expansion of their current manufacturing space to accommodate an increase in product sales due to a recent acquisition. The TCA approved a 1.217 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
