1) Wyoming Running Out of Energy?
For another example of the sheer idiocy of the green energy “transition,” consider Wyoming. Probably no place on the planet has more coal and other energy resources than Wyoming. And yet, the utility company in the state wants a nearly 30% rate hike – which the Wall Street Journal reports, has residents up in arms.

Wyoming used to get more than 95% of its energy from coal and gas, but now that’s down to 70% thanks to mandates that the utilities purchase more power from windmills. Because wind power is so inefficient and costly — even in a high-wind state like Wyoming — costs are rising dramatically. Wyoming has traditionally had the lowest energy costs of any state.

For Wyoming to be running out of energy would be like California running out of sand.

Why not have every state use whatever energy source is cheapest and most reliable?

2) The California and New York Exodus Continues
This chart from Business Insider presents the 2021 to 2022 domestic migration flows as total (not net) between pairs of states. These were the top migration patterns from one state to another:

We wonder if the migration from Florida to Georgia is due to many northerners crowding into the sunshine state.

3) Childless China
We’ve mentioned in previous Hotlines that China (much like other Asian and European nations) has a severely inverted population pyramid of hundreds of millions of old people, and a shortage of young Chinese. Compare below the age pyramid of the country 25 years ago versus today. China’s aging/population reduction crisis is going to get a lot worse over the coming decades.

Nations with falling populations are not superpowers.

In Hong Kong, where China began erasing some basic freedoms in 2020, the fertility rate has fallen to the lowest in the world. A desperate city government is paying couples who have children a bonus of $2,500 and giving priority on housing lists. But it hasn’t worked.

Here’s one reason the population implosion is going to get worse before it stabilizes. The Chinese aren’t getting married. And, unmarried women have far fewer children.

Xi Jinping’s totalitarian controls on individual liberties are increasingly convincing his citizens not to take a bet on their future.

4) More Evidence that the Green Energy Transition Is a Myth
Here’s the latest evidence that the “green energy transition” is a leftwing propaganda campaign that is easily refuted by simple facts.

The latest numbers from the Department of Energy show that almost 80% of all energy produced and consumed in the United States comes from fossil fuels, compared to (at most) 10% from wind and solar power.
