‌This month has been packed with redistricting news from all across the country. In case you missed it, here’s what’s happening.

Wisconsin

A GOP-backed redistricting bill is facing backlash from voters who don't support gerrymandering and other anti-democratic and sneaky tactics that try to dismantle our free and fair elections. This proposed redistricting bill has significant loopholes and could allow gerrymandering to continue.

Alabama

Gerrymandered, unfair, and underrepresenting maps that didn’t include two Black opportunity districts were struck down. Now, with maps that comply with the Allen v. Milligan ruling, Black Alabama voters will have the opportunity to vote in two districts where they can elect their candidates of choice. This could mean that the state could elect two Black Members of Congress to serve simultaneously for the first time in history.

Ohio

Another battle against gerrymandering rises as we're seeing a growing movement for redistricting reform in Ohio. We are supporting voters in challenging the Ohio maps that were passed in late September.

North Carolina

Extreme politicians passed unfair maps that do not represent the people of
North Carolina. We’ll keep standing behind North Carolina voters as they continue down a long road in the fight for fair maps.

Georgia

A federal court ruled that Georgia's current congressional and state legislative maps violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, and new maps must be drawn before 2024. A special session in the state legislature to draw new maps is weeks away. This victory will give Georgia voters the opportunity to be fairly represented in elections for years to come.

So much has happened in just the past month, and your support of grassroots movements like ours ensures we have the resources necessary to combat gerrymandering nationwide.

Help us hit our $15,000 end-of-month goal as we continue our mission to combat gerrymandering and fight for fair maps nationwide. ➡️ [link removed]
