Dear Friend,
It was 10 years ago today that David Farrar and I launched
a taxpayer group from a tiny office on Manners Street in
Wellington.
I was part time, and our first supporter roll was just a few dozen
friends and acquaintances. But we had a determination to improve
transparency and accountability of government and of town halls.
Today marks 10 years 🎉
To mark 10 years, we will be holding a special event
for members
next month (details to come) and launching our new book, The
Mission: 10 Years of the New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union.
As you'll appreciate Friend, we've used the last few weeks since
the election to start to pull together plans for the summer, the first
100-days of the new Government, how we will continue to hold
Wellington to account and fight for lower taxes, less waste, and
more accountability.
As
we prioritise and plan, we'd love to have your feedback so we can
ensure our campaigns reflect your views and priorities.
Will you give me a few minutes to complete our
supporter survey and guide this important work?
So
, please tell us what you think we should be pushing Christopher Luxon
on in the first 100-days in this two minute survey.
Thank you
This job is incredibly humbling. It was all very well
to start a tiny think thank with some friends part time on the smell
of an oily rag. 10 years later, we are now New Zealand’s largest
centre-right pressure group.
And after the 10 years, I am still excited everyday to
come to work to fight the good fight for taxpayers.
Thank you for making it possible.
Thanks again.

ps. unlike so many of the group who claim to speak for masses,
but are actually funded by special interests (including the
government!), the Taxpayers' Union is people powered. The vast
majority of our funding comes from people chipping in what they can
via our website. To
