Friday, November 17, 12-1 PM: Maine Law’s Third Annual Indian Law & History Lecture
The Third Annual Indian Law & History Lecture will be delivered by Lenny Powell, a Jenner & Block attorney, who will discuss the Supreme Court's recent decision upholding the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) in Haaland v. Brackeen and his involvement in it. His remarks will be followed by a conversation where he will be joined by Esther Attean from Wabanaki REACH, Chief Judge Eric Mehnert of the Penobscot Nation Tribal Court, and Ryan Lolar from Pine Tree Legal Assistance.
The program will be held on November 17, 2023, beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the Moot Court Classroom at Maine Law. Lunch will be served for in-person registrants and 1.5 hours of CLE credit is available. The event will be recorded by the law school and a hybrid option is available those unable to attend in person.
