Hey there, John.
It’s Alex Vindman. I wanted to follow up on an important email that VoteVets sent you.
The fight in Ukraine is one that is very important to me, because what happens in Ukraine directly affects U.S. security. We’ve been able to keep our friends supplied, keep Putin off balance, and provide humanitarian aid and relief. Pound for pound, it is among the most efficient and effective uses of our nation’s resources in many decades. We have to keep it up.
With everything happening in the Eastern Mediterranean right now, the United States remains the indispensable power. We can support our ally Israel, provide humanitarian relief to Gaza, help prevent a broader Middle East conflict, and support Ukraine.
But Republicans are threatening to block President Biden’s relief package. It’s unconscionable and also terrible national security policy.

John,
Amid all the noise, we missed a very important date yesterday.
October 24th marked 20 months since Putin’s authoritarian regime invaded democratic Ukraine.
It’s easy to get distracted with everything going on. But for our friends in Ukraine, we have to stay focused. In their fight to liberate their country, we must continue to be a strong ally. The best case for American security has always been for Putin to be defeated. That remains the case.
And that is why we are writing to you to see if you can support Biden’s $100 billion aid request. It would provide billions of dollars to support Ukraine, help Israel defend itself against Hamas, and send humanitarian aid to Gaza.
This package helps our allies fight terrorists and tyrants. Defends freedom. It is critical support — and it will help keep the United States safe. And Republicans are threatening to block it.
