Folks —
When this presidential election began, we had a record number of women running for the highest office in the land. Women who were brave, fearless, hard-working, and yes, persistent.
Even though things didn’t go as planned, I’m so proud of my good friends and colleagues Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, and Elizabeth Warren for getting in the ring and breaking barriers for young women everywhere.
Look, I’ll be candid with you — today was a real kick in the gut. It’s hard to accept another election without a woman at the top of the ticket. We can be disappointed, but we must also square our shoulders and stiffen our backbones because our fight is not over.
We may not see a woman become president this year, but we have some incredible women running for Senate. I’d love to tell you about two of them:
Theresa Greenfield is running for Senate in Iowa because she’s lived the struggles that our families are facing. When her first husband died in a tragic workplace accident, she had one small son and another on the way. It was his union benefits and Social Security survivor benefits that kept her family out of poverty. We need a fighter like Theresa to stop Republicans from gutting our earned benefits.
Barbara Bollier is running for Senate in Kansas. Barbara is a physician, not a politician. She’s focused on hard data and facts rather than talking points and partisan politics. Barbara will bring her expertise to the Senate, where she’ll fight to fix our health care system and lower prescription drug prices.
Democrats have a strong bench of women to take back the Senate from Mitch McConnell and the Republicans. We are electable, tough, principled, hard-working — and we’re going to win, but only with your help.
So, I’m asking: Will you split a donation between Theresa Greenfield, Barbara Bollier, and our campaign? Help some incredible women win their Senate races by chipping in any amount meaningful to you today.
