A new bombshell report from the Senate Finance Committee just exposed still more corruption involving Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

After failing to repay much or all of the $267,230 Thomas borrowed from a wealthy friend to buy a luxury RV, the New York Times reports, “His benefactor wiped the slate clean, with ethical and potential tax consequences.”

In practice, Justice Thomas was essentially given a luxury RV for free -- a shocking display of corruption. An expert witness told Congress, “This was, in short, a sweetheart deal.”

Every day that Clarence Thomas remains on the Court, our nation’s highest judicial body becomes more corrupt and illegitimate in the eyes of the American people. It is time for Congress to act.

SIGN THE PETITION: This Supreme Court is increasingly facing a legitimacy crisis, which is made larger by the ethics scandals surrounding Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and John Roberts. Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin must launch a full investigation -- including subpoenas -- into Supreme Court corruption and take steps to pass legislation requiring strong ethics for our Supreme Court.

We will share the support for this petition with the media, the White House, and key allies in Congress.

This report underscores the important role Congress can and should play in investigating misconduct in the judicial branch. Investigative journalists have uncovered shocking corruption -- but Congress has subpoena power and should use it.

Whether it’s home renovations, private flights, lavish vacations, or luxury RVs, Clarence Thomas has cashed-in on a lifetime appointment to the Court. Serving on the Supreme Court should not be a launching pad for corruption and graft.
