Hi there,

When politicians say they’re prioritizing “women’s issues,” it’s becoming clear to us that many aren’t really sure what that means aside from reproductive/abortion rights. We’re reaching out today because there are so many issues that disproportionately affect women in our country – and no one knows that better than WOMEN who are running for office.

Can you rush $20.23 or more so we can support progressive women candidates who will prioritize all women’s issues?

That’s why, when interviewing candidates for endorsements, we ask them an important question:

What issue is impacting the women in your district/state/region that you think isn’t getting enough attention?

Here are some of our candidates’ responses:

🚨 Deshundra Jefferson, running for Chair of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors in Virginia, says affordable housing is the most pressing issue for women in her district. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, the number of individual women experiencing homelessness has increased by nearly 17% since 2016.

🚨 Lashrecse Aird, running for Virginia’s 13th State Senate district, is focusing on fighting for equal wages and fair opportunities. Too often, women are forced out of the workforce because they don’t have access to the same opportunities as their male counterparts – and often make a fraction of the pay to do the same job.

🚨 Jessica Anderson, who is running for Virginia’s House of Delegates, 71st District, says that food insecurity is majorly impacting single mothers in her district. According to a recent analysis by the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics, women are more likely to live in food-insecure households than men. Jessica faced similar struggles as a single mother.

🚨 Greta Kemp Martin, running for Mississippi State Attorney General, spoke about domestic violence. In Mississippi, there are no divorce grounds for violence. A shocking 39.7% of women in Mississippi have experienced physical, sexual, or stalking abuse from an intimate partner in their lifetime.

Yes, protecting reproductive and abortion rights is certainly one of the most critical efforts of our time – and it is an issue that most women care deeply about. But we cannot dismiss the other pressing issues that women in our country are dealing with each and every day.

Those issues ^ are obvious to the women on the front lines of their communities because they have seen and/or experienced the impacts of these issues firsthand. We need them in the rooms where decisions about ALL WOMEN’S ISSUES are being made.

When we endorse candidates, we want to know they are committed to helping the women of our country thrive – that they will serve as a much-needed voice to represent and support ALL women in as many areas of their lives as possible. Can you rush $20.23 or more to join us in the fight to prioritize all women’s issues?
