John,
Recently, we’ve seen a shocking rise in race-based violence.
There’s been terrifying attacks on people of Asian appearance in Prahran and Randwick.
Attacks on Australian Muslins – including the shocking assault of a heavily pregnant Muslim woman in Parramatta
by a stranger.
A 30 percent rise in direct anti-Semitic attacks in Australia
And nobody can forget the tragic Christchurch massacre in New Zealand last year.
It has been a startling reminder on how much more we need to do to combat racism in our communities.
That’s why Labor believes that it’s time for a national anti-racism campaign, and we need your help to
make it happen.
Will you stand with Labor against racism by joining our campaign against racism in Australia?
We’re calling on the Morrison government to join with us and take a stand against racism by launching a national
anti-racism campaign that promotes a zero-tolerance approach to racism.
Because so far, the Morrison Government has been missing in action and the Coalition’s record on racism has
been shocking.
The Abbott Government proposed changes to Race Discrimination Act to weaken protections against hate speech, and
then Senator George Brandis said “everyone has the right to be a bigot”.
But Scott Morrison has the opportunity to do what’s right by taking a stand against racism. That’s what
Labor’s doing, and I hope that’s what you’ll do to. Will you take a stand against racism?
Together, we can take a stand against racism, racial prejudice and xenophobia.
I hope we can count on your support.
